4 Main Steps to Consider In Order To Make the Perfect Barbecue

A barbecue is one of the most exciting and most sought after events during a nice breezy summer. With good reason too, it brings out an instant richness of meats and vegetables. Getting the perfect barbecue is a combination of both science and art. Given below are some basic techniques on how to make a great barbecue and what steps you need to take initially to be a more accomplished barbecue.

Maintain Your Grill and Equipment at All Times

It is important to have a routine of cleaning your grill lighting before you start each session. A thorough and heavy clean would be necessary once or twice a year. There is always grease and oils that build up on the grills after heavy use and this can impart certain off putting flavours to your food. Therefore make sure to lightly fist off debris off the top and bottom grates of your grill. In heavier clean ups, using an enzymatic cleaner especially used for grills will help.

Charcoal Grills Will Give the Best Result

While gas grills are convenient and cheap, if you want to be the best barbecuer in town then an old fashioned charcoal grill will definitely up your game. Charcoal grills are far more superior than gas ones for the following reasons. They are much hotter which means that your cooking time is significantly reduced. They also burn wood, which is thought to impart more flavours and aroma on to the food. They allow for smoking too which adds to the flavours. In addition, the primal excitement of cooking on an actual fire and burning wood will never be experienced through the gas grills.

Try to Get Thicker Cuts of Meat

Thicker cuts are better unless they are pork chops or steaks as these will give a more enticing BBQ combo. The outsides of the meat will be crispy while the inside is tender and juicy. This is because when the inside is completely cooked, it would have given the meat enough time to develop a crispy crust on the outside. A general rule of thumb when buying the meat is about 1-2 inches of thickness.

Most people think that BBQ requires complex seasoning techniques. However, if you stick with simple seasonings such as salt and pepper there is no way that you can go wrong. All other seasonings are just incidental. Salt your meats about 40 minutes before grilling so that it absorbs the flavor and not any of the moisture of the meat and lastly sprinkle some pepper right before serving.

4 Simple Ways to Make Your Camping Experience Enjoyable

A wonderful way of getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city life is to go camping. A hike up the mountains and sleeping under the stars is an inexpensive way to reconnect with nature. However, if you think that putting up a tent and building a campfire requires a lot of effort that seems unappealing then your camping trip is unlikely to happen. When it comes to camping, a little bit of planning and being safe will go a long way. Take a look at the steps below:

Finding Your Location

If you are a little skeptical about camping or this is your first time then the best way to get excited at the idea is to choose a location that you are excited to go to! Visiting a new part of the country or exploring a completely new and different habitat will definitely be adventurous and make you want to go out camping. There are many state national parks or campsites at beautiful and diverse locations to choose from.
Type of Location

When it comes to the type of campsite, many national parks and campsites offer a choice between two: remote and full service campsites. Remote campsites are ones with few to no basic amenities such as running water, electricity, restrooms or picnic tables and so on. Full service sites usually offer all of the above. There are also private campsites that offer extra facilities such as outdoor pools if you need a bit of luxury. Make sure you know what you want before you start on your trip.

 Choosing a Tent

It is crucial to have a good quality tent when you decide to go camping as this will essentially be your temporary home for a few days. The better the quality of your tent, the better your camping experience will be. A tent that is usually larger than what you actually need is far more comfortable than smaller, cramped up tents. There are tents such as 3- season tents that are good for moderate weather while the 4-season tents tend to be best for camping out in harsher weather conditions such as during winter.

Pack the Right and Most Essential Gear

There will be a bunch of essential gear that will make your camping experience more pleasant. These include camp chairs, hammocks, and folding tables to name a few. There is also a need for extra blankets and scarves as you never know how the weather will change. Flashlights, rope, matches, extra batteries, pocket knives are some items that will always come in handy when you are in the outdoors.

How to Maintain and Protect the Fabric in Your Outdoor Furniture

The outdoors is very much the place to be during those breezy warm summers. The warm seasons call for everyone to spend time in their gardens, porches and by a pool. During these season it is vital to have attractive and practical furniture as a part of the decor. However, some people are a little reluctant to invest in furniture for the outdoors, mainly because of the regular maintenance. This simple guide will help you protect and maintain your fabric in furniture without too much trouble.

Outdoor Furniture

Removing Fabric off The Furniture

You have to give priority to the fabric of the furniture first as this is one of the first things that is likely to be damaged and dirty. The only way you can protect it is by removing it. For those which are not removable, you can use a slip on cover to protect it from rain, dust and even small insects. If the cushions are removable then you can easily remove the fabric in them and wash them.

Outdoor Furniture

Clean the Fabric and Upholstery

When it comes to the upholstery, you must thoroughly clean them with either a laundry detergent or dish soap and warm water. It is best not to use harsh chemicals as these can wear the fabric easily. Scrub the fabric and let the soap sink in.

Rinse and Dry

The next step in protecting the fabric is to rinse the detergents off using a hose as this will dilute the chemicals and make it come off easily. If it’s not possible to use a hose, you can also soak a towel in water and rinse it off the fabric. Make sure after it is thoroughly rinsed to dry it off completely. Having wet or damp fabric and upholstery can reduce the effectiveness of protection on the furniture and there is a very high chance of developing mildew.

Outdoor Furniture

Use a Fabric Protector

Finally, apply a fabric protector on to the fabric to protect it from any discoloration. You can find fabric protector sprays in most stores that sell cleaning supplies or home appliances. Reapply this fabric protector at the beginning of each season to minimize damage. If you want to keep your cushions outside, make sure that they are firmly in place by strapping them with some Velcro on to the furniture. You would not want your cushions to be blown away by strong gusts of wind. You could also store them away indoors in a non-plastic bag to ensure that mites or mildew does not build up over time.
